There are three different types of pool cue sticks, the one piece cue; these can be found in pubs and billiards
halls. Some individuals also will use these. The taper is uniform, meaning one in of the stick is thicker and then
it will ‘taper’ off to the other end. Then you have the two piece cue stick, which can come apart in the middle of
the stick. Usually screwed together they are easy to put back together. The third type is the same as the two
piece, but the joint is farther down, not at the half way point.
The pool cue is about fifty seven inches in length and many manufactures will offer different types of pool cue
accessories. There are the break cues that have thin tips made from extremely hard leather or a resin that has
temperature stability. This ensures that the pool cue will have full force of the stroke when hitting the break
shot.
Jump cues also a part of the pool cue accessories, these are a bit shorter than a normal pool cue. These make it
easier for a legal jump shot and usually have an extremely hard tip. Some will allow the player to remove the
lower, heavier half of the butt to produce the jump. There are also uncommon ‘masse cue’ that is very short and
heavy, having a wider tip are used for the making of masse shots.
Another pool cue accessories are the shaft that are made of various tapers, the pro taper and the European
taper. The pro taper is has the same distance from the tip towards the joint and then it widens. The European tape
seems to be the same size up and down. Many are found in the pubs, and homes in America.
If one is serious about playing pool they most likely will have a special case to house their pool cue. Pool cue
accessories such as these cases will protect the pool cue from scratches and maybe from being knocked around. There
is also a cue extension; this is handy and useful for adding a bit more length to your pool cue. It helps with
those hard to reach shots. They just simply attach to the butt of the cue and will add up to six inches of length.
Some like these better than the average conventional bridge.
Some like the pool cue accessories such as the leather bridge, which is very durable and it simply slides over
any pool cue. It will not break as many plastic ones do and they are great for the shaft and your table. There are
many shapes and styles of chalk and the chalk holders included in pool cue accessories. Chalk now comes in a
variety of colors and shapes. There are gloves that are especially made just for playing pool, along with pool cue
tips and cleaners, and extra tips. There is also the two piece bridge stick that allows one to attach to your
choice of bridge heads.
